It seems so early for all these questions about Christmas puppies-how bad does it get here after Thanksgiving?
Anyone else upset when they see "I want a puppy for Christmas"? I am sure some people can handle them, but really if they were ready for a dog wouldn't the time of year be irrelevant?
In a couple of weeks will every other question be along the lines of "I need a puppy for Christmas should I get a Husky or a Chihuahua?"
How do you respond? Do you just ignore them- or do you try and tell them that puppies are hard and they should go to a shelter in the hopes that someone may listen?
I figure if they get convinced to go to a shelter, the people working there can figure out if any dog is good for them. Telling them they shouldn't get any dog may just aggrivate them, but having someone at a shelter tell them may convince them.
If someone wants a puppy I suggest they never bring a dog into the home at a stressful and busy time of year such as Christmas. There is usually a lot of chaos and stress. It is too much for a dog to adjust and there may not be enough time to train a puppy.
I always suggest getting the puppy way before Christmas or after the holidays.
I always tell people puppies never make good gifts because who knows what the person actually wants. I know myself I am very very picky when it comes to a dog. I don't want anyone picking a dog out for me. I would rather have someone buy all the supplies for me then, I pick out and buy the puppy myself.
