I just got a great deal: cloth covered red scrapbook so I went to walmart and bought gold spray glitter?
My intent is to have the red cloth covered scrapbook sprayed with gold spray glitter (which I have just done tonight and need to let it dry), then I wanted to put on a fancy Christmas ribbon along the right edge along the side and attach it with gemagic gold stones, then (I haven't done this yet) in tacky glue write (in cursive) the kids' teachers' last names and "Christmas 2006" and throw glitter over that-ultimately so the names will appear in glitter. Is there anything I can spray on to keep all this glitter in place or is there something better and glittery I can do? Please keep in mind I have already sprayed the cloth cover with the gold glitter spray. This is for Christmas presents and I want to give "homemade" gifts. Thanks in advance for all help.
I would suggest using a spray sealer acrylic lacquer in a matte finish (located with the spray paints in home and hardware and craft stores). Using a matte finish won't distract the eye from the work with reflections bouncing off the finished book. When the lacquer is tacky, jewels and ribbon can be stuck on without the use of the white glue and then give the final work another coat of the laquer.
Another option would be to use spray photo adhesive on the reverse side of the ribbon and jewels and then spray some adhesive on the open part of the stencil and sprinkle on the glitter. Then spray with the lacquer as a finish coat.
