Why do my adhesive christmas light clips keep falling off? I stuck them to clean metal window frames.?

Light clips are not meant to be adhered to metal only glass, I too have these christmas light clips and have had the same problem in the past, I have remedied the situation by adhering them to glass instead and they stay on fine no problems but before I do this I first moisten them with a little water and then place them on the glass it works like magic Good Luck !
