What is a good Collector Barbie to start someone's collection?
I want to start collecting barbies! Not the walmart dolls, I mean the ones you have to buy online. I'm asking for one collector barbie for Christmas, and I'm not sure which one to ask for.
I was thinking about asking for the 50 Generations of Dreams barbie (it celebrated barbie turning 50!) that was new in 2009. It is about $40. However, I'm not positive on that one. So, if you have any recommendations on a good starter barbie, let me know. The price range i think my parents are willing to pay would be anything under $50

I'm an avid Barbie collector, and I've always purchased the Holiday Dolls that are out each year. As for the actual collector Barbie's go to the site www.barbiecollector.com and there are plenty to choose from. The Tribute doll is a newer and beautifully dressed one, or how about the Goddess collection with dolls like Athena? My personal faves are the Christian Louboutin's. Those are around $150. It's all about preference in the end. And, dolls are worth more as they age, and if they are kept in pristine condition, some of the most exclusive dolls were sold at wal*mart once upon a time. And FYI, the Generation of Dreams doll i $15 now give or take since it is old. The site should have them for around $20, if they are not sold out. Goodluck with you collection!
